7 years ago, our family of 7 moved to a small home on the prairie. Our goals were lofty - to live frugally, become more self reliant, grow as much of our food as we could (sourcing the rest locally), and in general, learn to live in a more sustainable way. In an exciting twist of life events, we recently moved "home" to the coast and are adapting our lives and goals to a completely different climate and landscape. Join us as we continue on our journey!

That Makes Three
Should have pressed it before I put it on, but this apron got put into immediate service this afternoon :) Striped fabric upcycled/repurposed from a baby wrap that I used 7 years ago for our 5th child. I had to seam it down the middle to make a piece large enough for the skirt, but it's not very noticeable due to the forgiving stripes. The coordinating star fabric was a small scrap leftover from another old quilting project. It feels really good to be using up fabric from my stash to make things that I really NEED. I would have preferred the straps to have been backed in the star fabric but there wasn't enough yardage so I made do with what I had - stripes.
I'm on a roll and between the aprons and some gift sewing, I've hardly left the sewing room of late!

This one is my favorite (I Just commented on my blog that I'm sorry I was/am so flighty and didn't give much notice when i quit....and I added I am glad to read your shampoo review!!ha).
ReplyDeleteWow...your son went to Australia! How exciting for him (I know you will be most excited when he returns home!)...my youngest daughter claims she is saving up to go to London and be a writer for Dr. Who. (I told her she can go with her dad and that is the only way..ha) love, andrea
I'm absolutely loving the aprons. I'm even starting to think I might get out my 40 year old sewing maching and see if it still works! Hope you're holding up without Ian. If he needs anything whilst he is here just yell! We took in some German backpackers last Christmas day who were stuck on a rainy beach trying to cook pancakes. They used the stove, had a shower and it was lovely way to share. Hope he comes across similar experiences.
ReplyDeleteYour aprons are gorgeous, Sherri! How satisfying to use up your stash fabric too. Wearing one of these babies has gotta be the best kind of motivation to get busy in the kitchen! :)
ReplyDeleteSherri- make me one and post it to South Carlina...:-)
ReplyDeleteLOL, riverswamp!!!! I'm itching to get back at my machine... I'm going through withdrawal - MUST make more aprons! I love the style - so comfortable and great coverage.
