MUST Read

Folks, this is a good book.  I read it cover to cover in 2 days in between every task imaginable and was challenged, inspired, angry and awestruck.

For more information on the Salatin's farm and the philosophy behind it, visit

Good stuff!

  1. I read about Joe in a Michael Pollan book so this one's on my list. Thanks Sherri.

  3. He's one cool dude! I was fortunate enough to attend a talk Joel did last year whilst he was visiting Australia. An amazing, inspiring man. I've not read any of his books yet, another to add to the reading list.
Sherrie have you seen the movie 'Food Inc'? Joel and Michael Pollan are both in it. A big eye opener and a bit scarry at the same time.

  4. Yes, Lisa, I watched Food Inc. several years ago. It was the "straw that broke the camel's back" so to speak... we decided to push much harder and faster at our food/lifestyle goals after watching that movie. It was a huge catalyst for us and also it was how we first heard about Joel Salatin :)

  5. Thanks! That book looks good. Along the same lines, vicki, from our happy haven blogspot, is talking about this place about farming. http://www.backtoedenfilm.com/
This all looks very exciting! BTW, virginia (where that farm is from your book's author) is one of the better states here as far as being conservative goes. I have one son who just moved there, and another who wants to move there soon. love, andrea

  8. Thanks for mentioning this - I have it in my library queue and hopefully it will be here within a couple of weeks. I just watched a short video with Salatin, and a longer video interview with Wendell Berry, a writer admired by Salatin. Great stuff ....
