Rest

Late spring is one those times of the year where there just isn't enough "day" left to do all the things that need doing :)

I was so busy today ~ going from one task to another with barely any time in between.  I'm energized by the increasing daylight hours and the warm sunshine, but I know that if I'm not careful, I'll burn out.   A bit of rest a few times per day can go a long way to restoring my energy, my focus and my sense of peace.

Aside from the regular responsibilities of daily home schooling and housework, there are a myriad of urgent tasks to attend to at the moment.  The most pressing are:

1) attending the last of the appointments at the local High Schools and completing the research/program comparisons.  We must get our oldest daughter registered for September now while the course selections are still open.

2) finishing our daughter's education portfolio

3) relocating the hens out of the garden so that I can plant the rest of it

4) planting our HUGE garden (seeding and transplanting seedlings)

5) preparing housing/brooder space for the chicks due to hatch out this week

6)  drawing up plans for the front verandah/door access as our carpenter is coming this month to assist us with the structural work

7) building a chicken tractor to house the younger chickens

There so much more on the list, but these are the pressing things... the things that need doing NOW.  Combined with the extra trips out due to soccer season, my days are full to the brim.  I collapse into this bed each night and melt into sleep in mere seconds.

I love going to bed at the best of times, but at this time of year, it's sheer bliss!

  1. Oh goodness, you are making me exhausted just reading this...such a to do list! Hope you manage to get it all done without wearing yourself out in the process...sometimes the days do seem to fly don't they? I often collapse into bed and fall asleep quickly too...hoping the twins don't decide to wake! Good luck....but take care xxx

  2. It is always a good feeling to go to bed tired, you can be satisfied you have done a good days work when you flop into bed and are asleep in seconds.

  3. Yup, but I tend to let things build up--not because I don't have enough time--but because I just don't get them done. However, I do think that the times I spend relaxing like this are important too.

  4. Truthfully, I don't know how you accomplish all that you do each day. You deserve a nap in that beautiful bedroom!
