Today, along with processing the peaches from my order of farm produce, I've got apples in the queue. We picked all of ours the other day due to night time frosts and in addition, our kind neighbours gave us a huge box of organic apples picked from their tree.
In exchange for that kindness, we gave them 2 dozen of our biggest eggs, some fresh baking and several of the best organic red peppers from our farm order. It seems that our neighbours enjoy bartering and trading as much as we do! We don't plan our transactions, we just give freely and enjoy both giving and receiving not always at the same time.
So, what does all that mean for me today? Canned peaches, peach pie, applesauce, apple crisp and apple pie filling! I've tucked in to the kitchen again for the day and have been busy (I swear I've not left it in months except to harvest)!
More to come soon on the apple front - I'm fresh out of energy today :)
Those apples look so good for cooking! I grew up with apples like those and they are so hard to find around here....so last year I decided to plant trees of my own. (But it will be a while before I get any, but better late then never!) love, andrea
ReplyDeleteSherri, I don't know where you get all that energy from, you continue to amaze me with the work you do. I love the look of your canned goods on the bench. They are lovely.
